Task Bar Hero Mechanics: Sockets, Stats, Classes & Farming

A practical breakdown of the systems that decide how strong your Task Bar Hero (TBH) character is: the three socket types, the stats that matter, which class to play, and how to farm gear efficiently. For prices and inventory value use the main tool; for rarity and gold basics see the core guide.

1. The three socket systems

Higher-rarity gear unlocks sockets. Each socket type uses its own materials and rolls a different pool of stats, so what an item can roll depends on its grade.

Decoration (yellow)

The first Decoration slot unlocks at Rare, the second at Legendary. Decorations give straightforward bonuses that vary by slot — damage %, resistances, and utility stats like Attack Speed or Movement Speed.

Engraving (green)

The first Engraving slot unlocks at Immortal, the second at Beyond. Engravings use materials such as Goblin Hide, Skeleton Bone and, at higher tiers, Dragon Bile — each offering several rolls depending on the slot type.

Inscription (purple)

The first Inscription slot unlocks at Arcana, the second at Celestial. Inscriptions roll one random stat from a large pool and can be re-rolled in the Cube. Crucially, Inscriptions are the only socket that can roll the powerful “Increase ___ Damage” stats.

Because Inscription is Arcana-gated, Arcana is the first “endgame-relevant” grade and the main tier traded on the market.

3. Class tier list

Team-based idle RPG, so composition matters, but if you are choosing where to invest:

ClassTierNotes
RangerSThe strongest overall pick and the best solo carry. Swap Swift Surge for Piercing Arrow to soften whole packs. Stack Attack Speed, Crit, Physical / Projectile Damage and Cooldown Reduction.
SorcererS (farming)The fastest farming meta once you have a Frozen Orb (Arcana) off-hand for rapid casting. At level 40 Meteor Strike clears the screen; pair it with Flame Hydra for the top AoE build.
PriestA (support)Best sustain enabler. Knight + Priest + Ranger is a safe idle-farming and push team.
KnightBStrong early melee but falls off hard in later difficulty and is a liability in Torment. Don’t over-invest resources here.

4. Where gear drops

Higher grades (Immortal and above) mostly come from synthesis — combining nine same-grade items into one of the next grade — rather than from raw drops.
